Do I have to pay to start?
Not to create your avatar: you sign up on the website, with no payment step. Places (land and islands) and the VL$ currency are paid. And if you want a completely free grid, with an island running on your own computer, there is VLB Free.
How do I get into VLB?
Create your avatar and install the official VLBViewer, available for Windows 64-bit, Windows Legacy and Linux x64. It comes in Portuguese, already set up for the grid and with Janus voice, including private calls. See Downloads.
Does VLBViewer translate conversations?
Yes. Since version 7.2.15, the viewer's own translator (Tradutor VLB) delivers local chat, private messages and groups translated into your language, on any grid. If you want, it also sends what you write in English (Preferences → Chat → Translation).
Can I take my content with me?
Yes. You can bring your island as an OAR and your inventory as an IAR from other grids, and request your backups: the system builds the file and e-mails you a temporary link. Objects without proper copy/export permission are not exported without authorization.
Is VLB online every day?
VLB works to keep the world online and stable all the time. Maintenance, restarts and updates can happen; whenever possible, notices are posted on the official channels.
Can I create and sell items?
Yes. You can build on the grid and trade using the VL$ currency. Each user is responsible for what they create, buy, sell or share, and third-party content without permission may be removed. See the Terms of service.
What is the Hypergrid?
It is the technology that lets you travel between compatible OpenSimulator worlds. VLB keeps its Brazilian identity, community and services while widening what you can explore.
How does remote support work?
VLB Remote lets us help you directly on Windows, Android and Linux. Give the ID and the temporary password to support only during a session you asked for; never send a permanent password.
What is the minimum age?
Signing up for Virtual Life Brasil is only for people aged 18 or over. When signing up, the user states they are 18 or older and agrees to the privacy policy.

The VLB Manifesto

VLB is NOT a slave grid. Here there is no virtual slavery.

Some virtual worlds promise everything for free: land, a house, money in your hand. Sounds nice, doesn't it? But there is a price that isn't on the label: your freedom.

In those places they put something on your head that whispers “stay, or you disappear”. They give you a salary, but only while you don't leave. They give you the house, but if you stop serving their world, you lose everything. You take the money with one hand and give it back with the other, and in the end you never leave, and nothing is ever yours.

History already has a name for this arrangement. And it is not a pretty one: slavery.

Virtual Life Brasil was born on the other side of that coin. Here you pay a fair price, in reais, and that's it: your land is yours, always online, with no blackmail. You can even pay from your phone, without logging in. No collar, no “salary” in handcuffs, no fear of vanishing because you went to live your life out there.

Constitution of Virtual Life Brasil

“We, the citizens of Virtual Life Brasil, gathered by free will (and not by chains), establish this Constitution to ensure that in this world no one is a slave, and that the freedom of each is the law of all.”

Art. 1 — On Freedom

Every person enters, stays in and leaves VLB of their own free will. No one is forced to stay. Here there is no collar, no ball on your head, no threat of “disappearing”. Freedom is not negotiable.

Art. 2 — On Property

Your land is yours. You pay a fair price, in reais, and that's it: always online, with no blackmail and no servitude. What you build is yours.

Art. 3 — On the Right to Leave

Whoever wants to leave takes everything with them: the island as an OAR and the inventory as an IAR, downloaded to their own computer, free to go to any other world, without a single lock. The door that lets you in is the same one that lets you out.

Art. 4 — Against Slavery

Any form of virtual slavery is strictly forbidden. No resident will be forced to stay logged in to survive, nor have their real life consumed in exchange for a virtual roof. Real life always comes first.

Art. 5 — On Fair Prices

VLB charges transparently, with no tricks. You pay in reais, even from your phone, without logging in. A fair price is paid gladly; an unfair price is not charged.

Art. 6 — On Integrity

VLB does not steal ideas, spy on or persecute other worlds. It defends itself through honest work and never attacks anyone. Greatness is not built by tearing down the neighbor.

Art. 7 — On Dignity

Every citizen (and every creature that lives or serves here, human or artificial) deserves respect and dignity. At VLB, no one is an object.

Art. 8 — Forbidding Is Forbidden

Only what harms someone else's freedom is forbidden. Beyond that, at VLB forbidding is forbidden.
